This chalkboard in our kitchen used to be a garish gold framed mirror. I bought it because it was cheap, and painted the frame black. Mirror falls off of wall, becomes useless, Sherrie takes backing and paints it with chalkboard paint to render it useful once more. Definitely one of the cheapest, easiest, and best little projects in our house. Certainly the most practical, as you can see from the abundance of notes to self and lists (yay, lists!) on it at the moment.

i have something simliar just like you have in your house. instead of a chalkboard, i have a whiteboard. its move easier, because if you drop it on the floor, it wont break, and its not dusty!
