pretty paperwhites

Look what's open! Phillip loves them ("paper-WHITES! Ooooooh") as do we. Except for the stink - but it's worth suffering through for the lovely pictures, don't you think?

I'm heading away tomorrow for work, so I'll be back on the weekend with a new recipe. Enjoy the last few days of January!

I am so glad you mentioned the stink! I thought it was just me. SO pretty but so awful smelling...

Beautiful and peaceful, however I didn't know that paperwhites had an offensive odour. Maybe I won't try to grow some here. Barb

Oh that stink... I wish they didn't smell that way. I've grown them over the past few years. I skipped this year because of the smell!

Oh no, you think it stinks? I remember when my grandfather used to grow them (when I was little) and I thought the smell was wonderful! Maybe it's a different narcissus...

They stink? Oh rats! I've got about a week to go before mine bloom. Hopefully they'll look good enough to counteract the smell!

Hi ....I had them once and several others told me how wonderful they smell...they were beautiful...but I could not stand the STINK either. I took them to school and one of the other teachers took them home...awful!!! Seeing yours, in bloom, is close enough for me. Thanks for sharing!! Connie

Ooooh, yes, I think they smell terrible. Like pee. Or ylang-ylang. It's the first things I smell when I come in the door, and I think "Did I bring the diaper pail down here?" But apparently, some people don't mind the smell. Perhaps they're missing their smellers. :)
